August 7, 2020 - The Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber and Visitors Center Board of Directors voted unanimously to name Tim James as President and CEO. “Tim is leading us in a direction that will benefit our local businesses in new ways,” says Thomas Tafel, Board chairman. James has served as Interim President and CEO for the past 3 months. He has improved board development, operations, and has prioritized member relations.
James said he is ready for the opportunities ahead as social media, tourism, and partnerships are moving to the forefront of popular marketing tools in addition to traditional forms. “The new Visitors Center website is a game changer,” said James.
The website, www.visitcaycewestcolumbia.com, is intended to attract people to vacation in the area. It also offers staycation ideas for local citizens. The Chamber and Visitors Center has been rebooted this week with more active committees under Tim’s leadership. “We look forward to these exciting opportunities to engage our community,” Tafel said.
Joe brings over 14 years customer service experience to the Chamber. We are truly fortunate that Joe's experience and talents have landed him at our Chamber! Joe worked at Verizon Wireless for 14 years in a Customer Service Operations Coordinator position for the Elgin call center. His responsibilities included support for 15 supervisory team with each have at least 15 customer services representatives, auditing time sheets weekly, process corrective action and STD/FMLA approvals.
Christina is our newest member of the chamber staff. She knows a lot about our community, as she is a local - educated in Springdale, West Columbia and Pelion and later earning her degree in Hospitality Management at the University of South Carolina. She has over 12 years of customer service experience in addition to a great deal of experience in Event Planning and Conference Management. Her enthusiasm and experience will be a great asset to the chamber.
